Born and raised in Beatrice, Nebraska, Jurgens' journey to the NFL was anything but straightforward. Initially, he played tight end at Nebraska but suffered a setback with a foot injury. However, under Coach Scott Frost's guidance, Jurgens made a pivotal switch to center, becoming the first freshman to start at center for the Cornhuskers since 1972.

During his time at Nebraska, Jurgens racked up impressive accolades, including third-team All-Big Ten Conference honors as a redshirt junior. He even dabbled in track and field, competing in shot put events for the Cornhuskers.

The Philadelphia Eagles took notice and drafted him in the second round (51st overall) of the 2022 NFL draft. With the legendary Jason Kelce mentoring him, Jurgens was groomed to be Kelce's successor.

In his rookie season, Jurgens proved himself to be a valuable asset, appearing in all 17 regular-season games and three postseason games, including Super Bowl LVII. As Kelce's retirement paved the way for Jurgens to take the starting role, he seized the opportunity, helping the Eagles win Super Bowl LIX and earning Pro Bowl honors in the process. He has certainly loved up to expectations with huge boots to fill.

Overcoming Adversity

Throughout his career, Jurgens has demonstrated remarkable resilience in the face of adversity. Despite playing through injuries, including a foot injury in the 2023 season and back issues that were apparent during the NFC Championship game, Jurgens has consistently shown up and delivered.

As the Eagles continue to soar to new heights, Cam Jurgens is undoubtedly a key player to how Eagles GM Howie Roseman builds the roster and is yet another success story for Offensive Line coach Jeff Stoutland.
